Guess where RELENTLESS.COM takes you?

Maybe not where you think?

CHAPTER #1

“relentless” [urban dictionary]
someone who is cruel, evil, pitiless, merciless, and that never ceases to be bad to others. (the jails are full of these people). By others, it is a person who is driven, never gives up, a top achiever
[merriam-webster]showing or promising no abatement of severity, intensity, strength, or pace : unrelenting

By choice of marriage, Mackenzie (Mac) became a de facto hostess at RELENTLESS.COM.

What’s more, Mac may know that all of the above definitions apply to soon-to-be-ex-husband, Jeff. The SocialCurrentSee® of our time would confirm.

And given a first name that sounds like a last, destiny followed with the role of nurturing matriarch for an amazing internet domain. Identity found: history says Mac was one of the first employees of ‘Cadabra’, also known as AMAZON.com  and she helped author the URL that survives as an active company link stored in the worldwide domain registry archives.

Without fanfare, Mac’s first job was as a companion, driver and navigator. And so Amazon was born. Mac and Jeff flew to Texas to borrow a car from his father, and then they drove to Seattle. Bezos was making revenue projections in the passenger seat the whole way although the couple stopped to watch the sunrise at the Grand Canyon. While in transit, Jeff and Mac literally jump-started their life and book-selling fictional enterprise during transit from the USA Right Coast to the Left Coast in 1993.

Burning fuel at the rate of $1.17 per gallon for some 1,700 miles, the newlyweds drove on nonrenewable energy and a passion for their enterprising dream. Read their story to learn Jeff and MacKenzie Tuttle Bezos met in 1992 when they were both employees at the New York City hedge fund D.E. Shaw. Jeff worked his way up to senior vice president at the firm while Mac worked there as a research associate. Numerous SocialCurrentSee® accounts of their married life reveal that Jeff always said, “she is very smart!” Mac the introvert; Jeff an extrovert to explain his entrepreneurial bent.

socialcurrentsee.com | who.altacities.com

Now, Mackenzie Tuttle Bezos, 49, is a two-time American novelist, published but not widely, even though her works sell on Amazon. In 2014, she founded the anti-bullying organization Bystander Revolutionand serves as executive director of that group today. In 1993, Mac married Jeff Bezos, who later became the founder and CEO of Amazon, eventually making them the richest couple in the world. They announced their intent to divorce in January 2019.

Ironically, the message Mackenzie Bezos cast for the anti-bullying cause may have had a partial origin with the husband Jeff, once known as a leadership tyrant during the early Amazon days, but an iconic entrepreneur today that has learned deference and patience, possibly much from Mac. Yet, the common definition of relentless may also enlighten the reason for this mission.

Only in this enlightened era of ubiquitous SocialCurrentSee® can one expect such archives of rumination, whatever your source of social media.

socialcurrentsee.com | who.altacities.com

A footnote for this subject is the pervasive hyper story about family divorce for the opening quarter of 2019, the Jeff and MacKenzie (Tuttle) Bezos breakup. The upper case status of this story eventually will document a legendary account of how the couple split up something north of $140B and the fallout of that union for the world’s largest online retail enterprise, AMAZON. Reportedly, some investors in that domain worry even if the couple is not. What could they possibly worry about?

As common as divorce is today (something just shy of 50% of marriages ends this way in the USA in 2019), it is not every day that a high-profile divorce story like the AMAZON founding couple breakup makes the headlines.

The media attention given the Bezos misfortune (forgive the pejorative attribution) will extend for some time with internet and mainstream media giving both tawdry and telling accounts of how the couple navigates this phase of life. Their “upper case” status will ensure few details unreported while millions of other divorce situations plod along in the “lower case” realm.

Mac Bezos is a published author and novelist but that side of her life has some curious anonymity outside elite circles. A natural introvert, she is obviously not depending upon income from her writings. Not now at least. In contrast, the Jeff Bezos story captures more attention than almost any mega-billionaire in the world today and the column inches are only rising.  Although he owns many media outlets (including the Washington Post), Jeff Bezos needs no publicity boost. In fact, President Donald Trump may rank as the most prolific promoter of the Bezos brand and you can’t gain a media profile creator more notable than that.

socialcurrentsee.com | who.altacities.com

Her 2013 work, “Traps,” is about three women, at first about as disconnected as one could imagine, and each in her own way striking, even riveting. “In very few words and only a few scenes, dialogue and secondary characters ringing true and three-dimensional, I found myself curious about each character as a person,” wrote one book reviewer on Mac’s Amazon page.

Despite the recent events in the Bezos marriage, sources may speculate the title of this work was potentially prophetic. Now, the pending accounts of the Bezos divorce will mirror the stories of many other famous disunions (literature and the press are full of these).  Unreported will be millions of lower case divorce stories of the pedestrian, plebeian type, one of which is the subject of the journal to follow.

CHAPTER #2

“Their divorce (the Bezos) will be as quick as an Amazon delivery,” said West Coast-based attorney Christopher Melcher, according to this report and other press accounts linked below.

Just one tiny, insignificant detail: the difference between planning and wishing and actually doing and turning it into a reality is why most of us are not astronauts, Adele or Jeff Bezos. ~ clipped from the TWITTER feed of Mackenzie Bezos (@_MackenzieBezos (unverified)

Bezos Divorce Might Be Handled as ‘Quickly as An Amazon Delivery’

Not surprising to see virtually the whole world following and commenting about the Bezos split, but have you noticed how silent Mackenzie (Mac) is on the subject?  If you were about to “inherit” half of $140 billion, how public would you want to be?

Affluence and influence will always define Jeff and Mac, no matter where or when you read the Bezos chronicles about their future life. Now, Jeff and Mac will lead separate, but always connected lives. Together, they will remain at the top of the 1% group in the world.

Although the Bezos divorce is a fait accompli, speculation abounds about asset division between the couple: Amazon, Washington Post, Blue Origin, or Bezos Expeditions, all of these or none. Lawyers and financial planners will gain lucrative compensation sorting this out. The final division of wealth between the Bezos’ will make for continuous chatter and commentary, some of which follows here.

There is mindful conflict in determining whether written rumination about the Bezos divorce is palatable, not because the story redux is elusive or sensational but because one struggles to understand it without mining psychological clues.

Granted, a certain confirmation bias is at work, the belief that the life of one Mackenzie Bezos—one half of the richest couple in the world, partner to a man who remade retail, refashioned labor norms, even capitalism itself, and upended the mega-industry that publishes books—just has to be a victim with a powerful story to share. Surely she would draw on such rich material as she scripts her next book. She is probably doing just that.

While many within and outside their world are providing social media fodder about the Bezos breakup, the couple remains mostly silent. Mackenzie the writer may have a future novel, even a biography to provide a retrospective on current events. Given his richest man in the world status, Jeff Bezos has numerous biographies, official and otherwise, but all require updates on his marital status. In a public commentary, her own Twitter page, Mac offers some occasional insights into her current state of mind, like:

“Hoping to find a true partner this time around.” Mackenzie Bezos
(So reads her Twitter bio introduction)
~
Mackenzie Bezos (@_MackenzieBezos) | Twitter

As of January 2019, Mackenzie Bezos (the TWITTERedition) has over 4,100 Twitter followers and has given that flock plenty to read with almost 70 thousand tweets since 2015. Keep in mind that this is an unverified account, so the source authenticity is in question.  Such is a common plight for celebrity in the SocialCurrentSee® of our time.  The rich and famous are magnets for impersonation.

Scrolling through the @_MackenzieBezos Twitter feed, the reader may catch the way her mind is working; how she is processing developments in her life with typographical ruminating, tweets, and retweets on what she observes, what she reads and sees from the perspective of her uncommon life amid a common development she would have never expected the entire world to know.

CHAPTER #3

Melancholy of my own, compounded of many samples extracted from many objects the sundry contemplation of my travels rumination wraps me in humorous sadness ~ William Shakespeare (paraphrased)

“Why don’t people understand money can’t buy happiness …. I’d rather have happiness than all the money in the world…  ” ~ Mackenzie Bezos

Mackenzie Bezos (Mac) is the published author in the family, not Jeff. And now that she and Jeff have split, some followers may wonder if she will one day write an autobiography or a memoir about her life the last 25 years. Within the few weeks following the early January 2019 announcement of their pending divorce, Mac remains silent about her writing plans so her family and friends may not know a thing about her feelings without checking her social media entries. But it is still uncertain that her own feelings, opinions are on her TWITTER FEED, an unverified account.

One of the few places where you find real opinions for Mackenzie Tuttle Bezos is an online book review about The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon. Mac writes regarding the couple’s early life

“Jeff’s decision to leave his job and build an Internet bookstore at the time, he was thinking about what to do next; he had recently read the novel, “Remains of the Day,” by Kazuo Ishiguro, about a butler who wistfully recalls his personal and professional choices during a career in service in wartime Great Britain.”

Mackenzie then followed with numerous arguments in critique of the Brad Stone work. Here are six of her opinions summarized:

“Jeff’s decision to leave his job and build an Internet bookstore at the time, he was thinking about what to do next; he had recently read the novel, “Remains of the Day,” by Kazuo Ishiguro, about a butler who wistfully recalls his personal and professional choices during a career in service in wartime Great Britain.”

While Wall Street took the Bezos split announcement in stride; investors will watch to see if the divorce settlement affects Bezos’s control of Amazon. So long as the company is growing and returning profits, Jeff Bozos probably maintains their confidence, though a settlement might put a dent in such RELENTLESS.COM side projects in the space exploration company Blue Origin | blueorigin.com. Bezos reports that the annual budget for Blue Origin | blueorigin.com is in excess of $1B, only about 1/70 of the expected fortune he may relinquish to Mackenzie. In numerous interviews of record (both social media and mainstream) Jeff Bezos has framed his passion for space exploration. He may have his highest regard for this mission, maybe ranking this higher than any other love in his life: ex-wife, current mistress, even his varied other RELENTLESS.COM pursuits, of which there are many.

CHAPTER #5

The divorce could have implications for the ownership structure of Amazon, where Mr. Bezos is the largest shareholder with a 16.3% stake, according to the company’s latest proxy filed in April 2018. If you own only 8% of a trillion dollar company, do you fall out of the elite class?

Bezos, 54, is worth an estimated $136 billion and is the world’s richest person, according to Forbes. His home state of Washington is one of the few remaining so-called “community property” states — where marital assets shared equally — so his divorce settlement with his soon-to-be-ex, 48, promises to be one of the largest in history.

Here are the other elite-level divorce cases of record:

CHAPTER #6

Nobel Prize for literature winner, Princeton professor emeritus, and mentor for Mackenzie Tuttle Bezos (Mac), TONI MORRISON, also had marital infidelity in her life, circa 1964. While teaching at Howard, she met Harold Morrison, a Jamaican architect, whom she married in 1958. She was pregnant with their second son when she and Harold divorced in 1964.

With that event in common, we might assume that Mac has even a stronger bond now with Toni Morrison, prompting the oft-quoted line: “Remember that moment when you first encountered a character who seemed to be written just for you?”

Mac Bezos, born MacKenzie Tuttle, studied under Pulitzer Prize-winning author Toni Morrison while at Princeton. Morrison, who was Bezos’s thesis advisor and connected Bezos to her ICM agent Amanda Urban, told Vogue that Bezos was “one of the best students I’ve ever had in my creative-writing classes . . . really one of the best.”

In a review of Traps, Publishers Weekly wrote, “In her second novel she galvanizes the mundane with a sense of dread, presenting four women trapped by sad circumstances and their own fallibility, as they gradually make their way through four tense days during which their lives intersect.”

CHAPTER #7

Better, Not Bitter Mac and Jeff SplitCo-Parenting Works

Despite the many reports on ‘PrimeInfidelity’ causing their divorce, Mackenzie and Jeff Bezos may have a marital divide amicable in nature. Is that only due to the immensity of their family fortune?

One major difference is the nature of couples’ assets. Often, affluent people hold their wealth in stocks, and in recent decades many of them build net worth with highly lucrative stock options in rapidly growing companies. “That makes the divorces incredibly more complicated than, say, two schoolteachers who get divorced, with retirement accounts and savings accounts and cars and houses,” says Steve Mindel, a family law attorney in Los Angeles who works with high-net-worth clients.

CHAPTER #8

The story, below, reveals that the great majority of the dissolutions of the marriage by the wealthy are worked out amicably before the divorce announcement. If the divorce is public, attorneys set terms before the filing, which is not unusual in a high net worth case.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and wife MacKenzie to divorce after 25 years of marriage

BEZOS TWEET ▶ “We want to make people aware of a development in our lives,” the couple said in a post on Bezos’ Twitter account Wednesday. “As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends.”

The carefully worded announcement suggests a cordial divorce and one unlikely to disrupt or affect Amazon the world’s most valuable company at $810 billion just ahead of Microsoft ($789 billion), according to S&P Global Market Intelligence. Reportedly, the Bezos net worth in Amazon is around $140B and rising.

CHAPTER #9

socialcurrentsee.com | who.altacities.com

Now that the world ruminates the most expensive divorce in history, at least the story about the richest man in the world getting divorced, many ask how much his wife will get.

When, if ever, will anyone understand gender neutral? Jeff Bezos knows.

Well, from the beginning, half of Bezos’ fortune has been always due to his spouse, as stipulated in Washington state laws. So, first, he is not the richest man in the world, but he is divorcing the richest woman in the world. Plus, she is not getting anything, she will just keep her wealth already earned in spades!

TRIVIA: As of 2019, the most expensive U.S. divorce is reported to be Steve and Elaine Wynn in 2010, which was $1 billion (est.). Oil tycoon Harold Hamm famously wrote a check for $974.8 million in 2015 for his divorce. Clearly, Jeff Bezos will eclipse all records in this infamous category.

By far and away, the typical divorcing couple (like the account of our story in the lower case) is usually trying to get a fair distribution of minimal home equity and modest personal assets, usually less than $100K total value.

CHAPTER #10

socialcurrentsee.com | who.altacities.com

Like most men who marry and divorce once, the second marriage rarely lasts for the rest of life. Fact check the data.

While mega-rich empire builder Jeff Bezos gives advice on choices, he opens himself to millions who question choices. Too late in this life, at least, to rescind his first marital crash landing, but you can expect more news about his inability to stay in the fidelity lane with the women in his life.

Truthfully, when Bezos founded Amazon in late 1994, no one predicted the enterprise rocket primed to launch. Yes, this was a partnership and always has been. How else would she claim a 50% stake in the $140B business?

Also not forecast was the demise of the Bezos marriage after a quarter century. That twist of fortune was as little expected as it was for Jeffrey Preston Jorgensen (at birth, 1964, now Bezos due to adoption) to have become the most wealthy man in the world, even if that title proved to be temporary since he will probably relinquish the position in 2019.

Even with his pending misfortune, something to which Bezos is unaccustomed, he might nod agreement with the following ruminating message:

“I don’t think young men or women should be pressured to marry. You should not marry anyone whom you know you may have to fix.”

A answer to the question: Why men should not marry? Given their 25-year successful marriage and the great commercial success of their lives, Jeff and Mackenzie Bezos may not choose to discourage anyone from marriage, regardless of the odds. They each understand that life guarantees for happiness are conditional.

But for men or women who would rather be independent, marriage is a risky option. Yes, for some, marriage is a contract for life fulfillment. But for others, it is living with financial ruin of indisputable measure. From their grossly pessimistic domain, the jaded source below adds: “The problem is that when you’re young, you naturally fall into this mind set where your whole self image is based on how your mate regards you, and so you spend all your money and energy trying to make yourself acceptable to them. Then later in life the shine wears off and you finally realize that you’ve wasted yourself on a crooked bet.”

CHAPTER #11

The roughly 70 billion that will transfer to Mackenzie #Bezos at the final divorce decree is enough to do the following:

Spending: If you had 70 billion dollars, you could buy 2,333,333 cars at $30,000/each or 350,000 houses at $200,000/each.

Travel: If you were to travel 70 billion miles, you could fly around the world 2,811,132 times or take a round trip to the moon 146,505 times.

Savings: If you could save $100,000/year, it would take you 700,000 years to save 70 billion dollars. If you could save $10,000 every single day, then it would only take you 19,178 years to save 70 billion.

Giving: With 70 billion dollars, you could afford to give every man, woman, and child in Canada $1,944.44.

Living: If you could live for 70 billion minutes, you would live until you were 133,181 years old. (SOURCE)

But the #Bezos/Tuttle families, friends, and the curious world will have to wait to see what Mackenzie does with her billions. Her charitable interests come to mind. She founded the anti-bullying organization Bystander Revolution and serves as executive director of that group today. But if you follow the SocialCurrentSee® of these times, you know billionaire Jeff takes much skepticism about his current philanthropy.

No matter who you are or what you’re facing, you can find personal stories, suggestions, and encouragement from someone who has dealt with a similar issue. Search by problem or solution to find tips from people who have been targets, people who have been bystanders, and even people who have bullied.

CHAPTER #12

socialcurrentsee.com | who.altacities.com

The social media story of the Bezos life, the world’s most wealthy couple, is viral by the current definition. Most of the content gleaned for these specific chapters of PrimeInfidelity® started with the “ruminations” in a TWITTER feed for Mackenzie Bezos @_MackenzieBezos, an unverified, now suspended account not authorized by the namesake. I suspect the suspension was because virtually all of the content consists of retweets, not tweets from the source. As we know, Mackenzie Bezos is too accomplished as a writer not to write. She writes mystery novels, not diatribe.

Also within the former Twitter feed, now extinct, was much content that is harsh, even disparaging to Jeff and Amazon. Ex-wives often succumb to social media bully tactics, but given her Bystander Revolution mission, McKenzie is not in this community.

Given the background, education, and experience that Mckenzie brings to society, the world expects to see her third novel soon. Perhaps she will add a tome to her current genre, making it a trilogy. Possibly, she will head in a different direction.

The most recent year (2016) for which statistics are available shows that Washington State had about 24,500 divorce decrees or a rate of about 3.4 per 1,000 marriages. After 25 years of marriage and the accumulation of super wealth, Mackenzie and Jeff Bezos probably did not expect their marriage to become a state statistic in 2019. Stuff happens.
